Dear Beautiful | July 2026 Letter
Dear Beautiful,
I love July, it might be my favorite month of the year! The evenings are warm, we gather outside with those we love. Concerts, rodeos, fairs, lazy days by the pool, the list goes on and on. And for a few nights each year, we all stop what we're doing, look up, and celebrate the sky lighting up with fireworks.
No one watches a firework and complains that it shines too brightly or takes up too much space.
It simply does what it was created to do.
It made me wonder why I often find myself doing the opposite.
I've been thinking a lot lately about the ways I've edited myself over the years.
Not because someone asked me to. But because, somewhere along the way, I quietly decided that if I made myself a little smaller, everyone around me would feel more comfortable. I’ve softened my opinions, downplayed my accomplishments, and often questioned my every action. I worried about taking up too much space.
I genuinely believed that making myself smaller would leave more room for others to shine.
I've come to realize that shrinking myself never helped anyone else become bigger, it only kept me from becoming fully me.
Maybe you've dismissed a compliment, hidden a dream, stayed quiet when you had something important to say, or convinced yourself that being less visible was somehow more virtuous.
Confidence isn't about being the loudest voice in the room or believing you're better than anyone else. It's about feeling at home in your own skin. It's trusting your instincts, honoring your gifts, and allowing yourself to be seen without constantly editing who you are.
The world doesn't benefit when we shrink ourselves.
The world is more beautiful when we aren’t afraid to share our ideas, use our talents, laugh without holding back, and stop apologizing for ambition, kindness, intelligence, or joy.
Shining isn’t always standing in the spotlight, but it is always about being comfortable with who we are and sharing our unique light.
Fireworks don't ask permission before they shine. They don't worry if they're too bright, too bold, or if they'll outshine the ones beside them. Each one lights up the sky in its own way, and together, they make the celebration even more beautiful.
And we should do the same.
Share the idea. Say yes to the opportunity. Laugh a little louder. Take the picture. Start the project. Raise your hand. Let yourself be seen. Be proud of yourself!
